Kowloon City
Kowloon City ( Chinese 九龍城 / 九龙城 , Pinyin Jiǔlóng Chéng , Jyutping Gau 2 lung 4 Sing 4 ) is a densely populated district Hong Kong in the same district Kowloon City of Kowloon .
In what is now Kowloon City, the Kowloon Walled City used to be , an extremely densely populated block of houses with a roughly rectangular floor plan 210 meters long and 120 meters wide. The buildings were demolished between 1993 and 1994 mainly because of the unacceptable sanitary situation. Some buildings have been preserved, such as the South Gate and the Yamen . The Kowloon Walled City Park opened on the site of the formerly walled city in December 1995 .
