Rostocker Krämerstraße, about 100 meters long, is located in the historic city center and once belonged to the Mittelstadt. It connects Lange Strasse with Grubenstrasse via the very short Vogelsang .

Mentioned for the first time in 1261 as platea institutorum , it took its name from the trade of shopkeepers who were located in the center of the city's social fabric. In the Rostock city fire of 1677 , Krämerstrasse was completely destroyed, but then rebuilt in the baroque style. Since the post office was located in it in the 19th century, it was called Poststrasse from 1836 to 1884 . Like almost the entire city area east of the Marienkirche , north of the town hall and west of Grubenstrasse, it was completely destroyed in the four-night bombardment of the British Air Force at the end of April 1942.

From 1949 it was rebuilt with loosened up, but quite sober buildings; Worth mentioning is the scraffito art created on several houses by the artist Heinz Becker in 1957 , which documents the will to build up during this time. Today, Krämerstraße mainly functions as an entrance to the city center, there is no infrastructure worth mentioning.
