Herb grinder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A herb grinder (also called a grinder, crusher, crunsher, crusher, or chopper) is a device that is used to grind herbs . The mills are usually made of acrylic, zinc or wood, higher quality models are made of aluminum, stainless steel or titanium. There are also aluminum mills that have a ceramic coating.

function

The main function of a herb grinder is to crush various herbs. This works by turning two nested bowls, which have several blades or points inside. The herb is placed in this interior space beforehand, which is then crushed by turning in the opposite direction.

Depending on the variant, the herb grinder can then also have more bowls, with each additional bowl having an additional function. The basic variant described above consists of two shells or parts. There are also three-part, four-part and five-part mills.

The three-part version also has a collecting compartment for the shredded cabbage, so that the cabbage is immediately available after shredding and does not have to be taken out of the blades. Herb mills with four parts have a fourth compartment with a sieve and the five-part grinders either have a second sieve, which is even finer than the first, or a compartment for storing the herb.

Use when crushing hemp

Four-part grinder with pollinator

Grinders of this type are also widely used for grinding marijuana . In this jargon, these grinders are mostly called grinders. For the production of hashish, some of these grinders have another compartment for the crushed herbs in which the trichomes (not pollen) are collected through a very fine-meshed sieve, also known as a pollinator , the trichomes are called keef .
