Krétakör

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Krétakör (German: Kreidekreis ) is a production office and center for contemporary art that organizes creative community games - based on social science findings. The different projects combine the performing arts and new media. Árpád Schilling as artistic director and Márton Gulyás as executive director are responsible for the Budapest-based organization .

The organization

"... that what is there should belong to those who are good for it." - Bertolt Brecht : The Caucasian Chalk Circle . Krétakör is organized as a foundation and is divided into three departments: a production office and the performing arts and new media areas.

Krétakör emerged from the Krétakör Theater ( Krétakör Színház ) founded by Schilling in 1995 , which celebrated numerous international successes, especially in the years around and after 2000. In 2008 Schilling decided to dissolve the ensemble and founded the current production office under the name Krétakör . Instead of an extensive ensemble (with up to forty employees before 2008), Krétakör is characterized by a flexibly deployable team and diverse collaborations.

The method

Krétakör describes his method as “creative community games”. The following aspects are highlighted:

Creative : Krétakör encounters social issues in a new, creative way. It conveys current knowledge for the participants, arouses their activity and prompts them to make decisions.

Collective : Krétakör sees fellow players and partners as collaborators. The task of strengthening civil self-determination and promoting grassroots democratic initiatives is emphasized.

Game : Krétakör describes the event to be created in one word: game; accordingly, the experiential gathering of experience alone is a constructive pedagogical method.
