The Krümperpferd used to be an unscheduled horse in the cavalry , which was intended for the transport of forage and other necessities.

Each squadron had four, and each battery and training company had two crinkled horses. These were typically retained from the military's decommissioned horses. They got their name from the fact that no regular rations were thrown out for them. They had rather on the supplied for the other horse feed durchgekrümpert d. H. be fed with.

For a fee, they were allowed to carry out haulage work for other units and authorities with the Krümperwagen. The income from the sale of the susceptible horse manure was also available to the crinkled horses.
