Motor law
In Austrian law, motor vehicle law refers to the legal norms governing the operation of motor vehicles .
Legal matter
The motor vehicle law includes, as far as it concerns motor vehicles - in contrast to other road users:
- the Road Traffic Licensing Law (technical requirements for motor vehicles of all types and their operation)
- the road traffic law (Requirements for use of motor vehicles), including driving right (requirements for the vehicle operator)
Because of this split, one speaks of road traffic law and motor vehicle law as legal matter .
The main pieces of legislation are:
- the Motor Vehicle Act (KFG 1967) with the Motor Vehicle Act Implementation Ordinance (KDV)
- the Testing and Assessment Agency Ordinance (PBStV)
- the road traffic regulations (StVO 1960)
- the Driving License Act (FSG)
