Kranewinkel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kranewinkel is a desolate place near Brilon between the Eschenberg and the eastern slope of the Hängeberg.

Like many other places, the place fell victim to the great desolation process in the late Middle Ages . It must have been a creeping, slow process. This began around 1300. There are different theories about the reasons for leaving the place. The attraction of the city of Brilon was considered, for example.

Johann Suibert Seibertz writes about this: Kranewinkel sent all its residents to the new city (Brilon), which soon became populous, strong and wealthy. (This statement also applies to the Weweringhausen , Hengesbeck and Borghardsberg desert areas .)
