history

On December 20, 1959, the Hospital Support Association was founded. In order to find a legally competent sponsor for the hospital, the members of the hospital support association declared their willingness to set up a foundation. The Hospital Foundation Porz am Rhein was founded on July 21, 1960 by the members of the Council of the City of Porz and the Hospital Support Association and approved on January 17, 1961 by the Interior Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia .

This enabled the final planning of the new hospital building to be completed. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 14, 1963. A good four years later, on September 28, 1967, the Porz am Rhein hospital was opened.

In July 2004, the Porz am Rhein hospital was restructured under company law. The hospital was spun off from the hospital foundation on the basis of a decision by the board of trustees. The hospital operations were brought into the Porz am Rhein gGmbH, founded on July 29, 2004 .

In December 2019, the hospital had to be evacuated because of a bomb disposal.
