Crepe net

The network ( latin : rete ) was at gladiatorial the auxiliary weapon of Retiarius or Retiariers, a type of gladiators . An outdated expression for this net is crepe net (from Latin crepax "crackling", "rustling").

Since the retiarius was barely armored and otherwise only fought with a long dagger and trident , the network was best suited to compensate for its tactical deficits.
