Kreuzkirche (Peterholzstrasse 57)

The Kreuzkirche Dessau was built in 1933 in the context of the Bauhaus in the immediate vicinity of the consumer building. The design comes from Bruno Brüdern.

history

After a construction period of nine months, the church was consecrated on May 28, 1933 as the “Kreuzgemeindehaus”. The influence of the Bauhaus can still be seen today in various furnishings such as baptismal fonts, door handles and altars .

The church was originally subject to a dual use concept. During the week it was used for childcare and on Sunday for church services. The double use was given up in 1995 with the construction of a kindergarten.

Parish

Since 2005 the parish of the cross has been united with the parish of St. Peter Dessau Törten and bears the name of St. Peter and Cross. It belongs to the Evangelical Church of Anhalt .
