The compensating stacker is a machine that is used as a peripheral device on various machines in the printing industry.

Working principle

Due to the fold, printed sheets always have a larger volume on the waistband than on the open side. This effect is reinforced when the products are stapled or bundled together. In order to get a stable package of printed sheets out of the machines, the sheets have to be crossed. The sheets run in flakes or individually into the receiving shaft of the compensating stacker. Depending on the thickness of the sheet and the speed of the preceding machine, the sheets are placed on top of each other in different numbers and then dropped onto the turntable. After being dropped, the plate rotates 180 ° and another layer is dropped. This repeats itself until a manageable and stable package is formed. This package is ejected with a ram and removed manually, or placed on pallets using a palletizer .
