Life phase-oriented working hours

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term life-phase-oriented working time , also life-phase-oriented working time organization , stands for a long-term agreement on flexible working hours in which fluctuating time requirements of employees are taken into account and leave, part-time or full-time work is regulated by employment contracts. In particular, time requirements are taken into account that result from the employees' changing family requirements.

description

Life phase-oriented working time enables more intensive working time in certain phases of life , especially in the first years of employment, as well as reduced working time in other life phases, for example:

  • in the case of part-time training or studies ,
  • for a smooth re-entry after a family-related break,
  • for more intensive support of children during the transition to secondary schools,
  • for a sabbatical ,
  • to care for relatives in need of care ,
  • to reduce working hours in old age as a smooth transition into retirement .

realization

A life-phase-oriented work design can be implemented, for example, through a lifetime working time account. In addition, part-time family work , child bonus time and partial retirement are elements of a life-phase-oriented work design that each relate to a specific phase of life or life situation.

For the employer, personnel planning with this working time model is comparatively complex, since this model is intended to largely take account of the employees' wishes for time sovereignty . Bridging situations or a need for new hires may arise.

Working time accounts are comparatively rarely used by employees to achieve a better work- life balance during the so-called rush hour of life . They are mainly used in later life phases.

Examples

An example of changing working hours in the course of life are: an initial, work-intensive phase of starting a career , then a reduction in working hours during a family phase (often also referred to as the rush hour of life ) and a later phase with the option of reduced weekly working hours (for Example in the form of partial retirement ).

A special aspect of life phase-oriented working time is age- appropriate working time . The basic idea behind this concept is to extend the volume of work in old age with reduced weekly working hours over a longer lifespan. In personnel policy , it is seen as a forward-looking response to the aging workforce. The life-oriented working hours should at the same time promote the individual work-life balance and promote corporate health .
