The war memorial in Büderich near Wesel was erected in 1932 according to plans by the Wesel sculptor Spohr by the stonemason company H. Lauer with voluntary participation from Büderich citizens. The monument committee, formed in 1923, collected money and material for the construction and selected the design that was finally implemented.

The memorial made from Bavarian shell limestone depicts a kneeling soldier with a flag lowered as a sign of mourning . The inscription on the memorial reads: "Our fallen heroes" . On the left and right are steles with the inscriptions: “1939–1945 I had a comrade” and “1939–1945 Think your dead people,” On the side are the names of those who fell in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the First World War 1914-1918 attached. In the recent past the names of the fallen and missing soldiers of the Second World War as well as the names of the civilian dead and the victims of the Nazi tyranny were added to four marble tablets in front of them. The inscription “Die Toten admon” is placed above the marble plaques .
