War chief
A Warchief was in the societies of the North American Indians , a man walking in times of armed conflict, the command from the peace chief took over.
A war chief led his warriors into battle with his own participation, so he was largely in the function of a fighting commander . But he usually made strategic decisions at least in consultation with the peace chief. Usually the warriors of a tribe chose their war chief.
