War strength certificate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The War Strength Verification (KStN) stipulated in the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS how many debit positions were available for officers, NCOs, men and civil servants in the units. It also specified the equipment with vehicles, riding and draft animals and weapons.

The KStN was already created by the Reichswehr and was repeatedly adapted until 1945. The high losses during the Second World War as well as the adjustment to changed tactics were taken into account. The KStN were target provisions . During the war, however, most units did not reach their nominal strength.

The entire equipment of a unit was shown in the war equipment certificate (KAN).

The Bundeswehr calls its regulations (corresponding to the KStN or KAN) strength and equipment verification (StAN). The corresponding document was called by the National People's Army of the GDR Placement Plan and Equipment Certificate and was also abbreviated to StAN.
