Crisis response center for IT security in the German insurance industry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crisis Response Center for IT Security of the German Insurance Industry (LKRZV) is a central reporting point that, as an early warning system, warns all insurance companies connected to it in the event of current cyberattacks . The LKRZV has been operated by the German Insurance Association (GDV) since 2010 .

task

The LKRZV provides technical advice and acts as a single point of contact between the responsible federal ministries and authorities and the affiliated GDV member companies. The LKRZV informs the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) about cyber attacks on insurance companies, which can also be relevant for other sensitive industries, and warns companies of current waves of attacks on IT or of known security gaps. In addition, the LKRZV, together with the GDV , is a contact for all topics in the field of cyber and IT security for German insurance companies. It is intended to provide ongoing monitoring of the current threat and security situation for the insurance industry.

Since 2017, the LKRZV has also acted as a joint higher-level contact point in accordance with Section 8b (5) of the BSI Act .

LKRZV registration portal

The LKRZV reporting portal has been a free, high-availability platform for insurance companies and GDV member companies since November 2018 , on which the affiliated companies can report IT security incidents to the LKRZV. These reports are encrypted and forwarded to the BSI by the LKRZV . In addition, warning messages from the Federal Office for Information Security are immediately distributed to the companies. The LKRZV reporting portal thus serves as a uniform reporting and warning channel about current IT security events.
