Guided scissors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The link-guided guillotine shears are machine tools for making straight cuts ( shear cutting , manufacturing process according to DIN 8580) primarily in sheet metal. It belongs to the guillotine shears , but is always motorized (electric / hydraulic).

function

In contrast to swing-cut guillotine shears , in which the knife is guided in a circle around a pivot point, the knife bar, to which the upper knife is attached, is guided by the link guide in two links - the two side stands. The movement of the cutter bar is straight, which leads to a consistent cut quality with a constant cutting gap even with different sheet thicknesses. The play in the two guides is adjusted using wedges.

Plate shears or guillotine shears are the most economical way of straightening sheet metal for straight cuts. Due to their low investment costs, they are used wherever a wide range of sheet metal qualities have to be cut straight with high productivity and without great demands on cutting quality. In contrast, with the much more expensive processes, laser cutting , water jet cutting , flame cutting or plasma fusion cutting, as well as nibbling , almost any contours are possible.
