Kulp (meteorite)

Coordinates: 41 ° 7 '0 "  N , 45 ° 0' 0"  O Kulp is a stone meteorite weighing 3.72 kilograms, which was found in Armenia and iscounted amongthe H6 chondrites .

The meteorite fell to earth in 1906, south of the town of Jujewan in the province of Tavush in northeast Armenia. The case was observed. There are only two meteorites with proper names that have been found in Armenia, Kulp and the Erevan meteorite, which fell in 1911 or 1912 and was discovered about 100 kilometers southwest of Kulp.

Kulp is a common chondrite . Chondrites are stone meteorites with inclusions of minerals . Kulp has a high iron content, which is why it is categorized as H-chondrite. The fact that the inclusions are quite indistinct suggests that it was exposed to temperatures of over 950 ° C, hence the categorization H6.
