Kulturbunker Vulkan
The Vulkan culture bunker is a former factory air raid shelter on the site of the former Bremer Vulkan shipyard . It is located directly at the Lobbendorf gate in the Vegesack district of Fähr-Lobbendorf .
The bunker system corresponds to the construction type of the military crew bunker of the Navy , it was built from 1943 to 1944 and is said to have offered "shelter" for 1400 to 2000 people. There was an air raid observation post on the roof of the bunker . The building has four floors.
After the shipyard was closed in 1997, the bunker was expanded into a rehearsal and event center for the music scene in Bremen-Nord . The cultural activities in the bunker were organized by a specially founded sponsoring association.
