Cultural monument of the year (Germany)

The federal homeland and environment in Germany (BHU) has with its annual election of the cultural monument of the year on the diversity of cultural heritage and alerts on vulnerable elements of the cultural landscape carefully. The cultural monument of the year was proclaimed for the first time in 2004.

The cultural monument of the year 2020 are "Historic Places of Healing and Health". The BHU publishes an information flyer and an annual calendar with examples from its member associations.

The following cultural landscape elements have so far been declared cultural monument of the year:

  • 2008: Historic inns
  • 2009: Place of execution and court
  • 2010: Historic school building
  • 2011: Historic hydraulic structures
  • 2012: Historic paths
  • 2013: Historical official and town halls
  • 2015: Historic cemeteries
  • 2017: Historical memorials
  • 2018: Historic cellars
  • 2019: Historic kitchen gardens
  • 2020: Historic Places of Healing and Health
