Kulturem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kulturem is a term coined by the Spanish linguist Fernando Poyatos in 1976. Els Oksaar took over and represented it in German-speaking countries. This refers to behavioremes , i.e. culture-related behaviors in certain, recurring situations that vary depending on cultural, verbal, non-verbal and extraverbal factors. This includes, among other things, the different forms of greeting depending on the culture (e.g. shaking hands or bowing ).
