The Kummerbuben are a Swiss dialect - band .
history
Simon Jäggi and Urs Gilgen, the two founding members of the Kummerbuben , got together in 2004 for a Tom Waits project, then under the band name Dean Moriarty & the Dixie Dicks . In 2007, the Kummerbuben released their first album, Liebi und andersi Verbrächen , in which they interpreted old Swiss folk songs and thus met with great media coverage. This was followed by concert and festival appearances all over Switzerland and in 2009 the second album Schattehang , with which they entered the Swiss charts for the first time .
In 2010 the band worked together with the ballet ensemble of the Stadttheater Bern. The documentary Buebe gö z'Tanz , which was shown in Swiss cinemas in 2012 , emerged from the collaboration with the Bern Ballet . Since 2010 the Kummerbuben performed successfully in Germany with concerts and festivals. On the album Weidwund from 2012 own song texts and own music replaced the old folk songs. It came to number 38 and stayed in the album charts for 4 weeks.
An album that was released in early 2015 is titled Dicki Meitschi . The album Itz mau Apokalypse followed three years later , which the band had recorded with the Bernese Variaton Orchestra.
Prices
In November 2009, the band received the recognition award from the Music Commission of the Canton of Bern, the “honoring of particularly important musical achievements”.
