Art laboratory

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kunstlabor is the name of a temporary use project in a former office building in Munich. From October 12, 2018 to probably the end of January 2019, it also served as an external exhibition building for the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art in Munich. In the art laboratory, 50 national and international street artists designed two floors and parts of the facade of the former Tengelmann administration building at Landsberger Strasse 350.

The art laboratory is one of the largest art projects in Munich. The 50 artists include a. the Munich street artist Loomit , the artist couple Herakut and Stohead . The organizers of the exhibition have largely left the artist free to design the "spatial experiments"; the works will also be further developed during the exhibition phase in the last months of 2018 so that visitors can experience how the art is created, says curator Stephanie Utz. Obviously the operators hope that the owner of the building, Axa Versicherung, together with FOM Real Estate, will extend the temporary use phase beyond December 2018. In principle, however, Axa Versicherung bought the former administration headquarters of the Tengelmann Group in order to demolish the building and erect new office buildings. The last open day was January 31, 2019.
