The copper section is the engraving related graphical gravure printing process . A copper plate serves as a pressure plate.

The difference to copper engraving is that the copper cut has not only the cut furrows but also burrs and thus also bears the characteristics of a high pressure process . The invention is attributed to the enamelur and graphic artist Curt Hasenohr-Hoelloff .

The copper cut is related to the lead cut , the steel cut and the wood cut . The working techniques do not differ fundamentally. Only the options for elaboration differ depending on the material.
