Kurdish Communist Party

The Kurdistan Communist Party ( Kurdish Partiya Komunîstî Kurdistan , English Kurdistan Communist Party ,حزبي شيوعى كوردستان-عيراق) is a Kurdish splinter party of the Iraqi Communist Party .

The KKP was founded in 1993 at the third congress of the Iraqi Communist Party by Karim Ahmed Peerdaud . It was one of the first political parties to demand that a transitional government be set up in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime .

In April 2004, Kamal Shakir took over the leadership of the party.
