Kurdish Institute in Paris

The Kurdish Institute in Paris or with the original name Institut Kurde de Paris is an institution that deals with the Kurdish language and culture.

It was founded in February 1983 by several Kurdish intellectuals and celebrities such as Yilmaz Güney and Yaşar Kemal . The institute is one of the most important Kurdish institutions in Europe. There are several magazines such as Kurmancî , which has been published every 6 months since 1987 , the Bulletin de liaison et d'information ( Bulletin for contact and information ) and the Études Kurdes ( Kurdish Studies ). Some magazines are in Kurdish, others in French. Most of the institute's activities focus on Kurmanji .

The institute has a large library with several thousand books and documents, manuscripts, brochures and magazines.

The institute is headed by Kendal Nezan. Its two representatives are Abbas Vali from the University of Swansea and Fuad Hussein from the University of Amsterdam .
