Kurtoğlu Hızır Reis ( known as Curtogoli in Italy, France and Spain ) was an Ottoman admiral and commander of the Ottoman fleet in the Indian Ocean, son of the famous admiral Kurtoğlu Muslihiddin Reis . In 1568/69 he led an expedition to Aceh , Indonesia , as a result of which Aceh became an Ottoman protectorate.

In 1567/68 he commanded a fleet of 15 ships that sailed via Surat , Janjira and Sri Lanka , two of which arrived in Aceh, Indonesia in north Sumatra . He followed a request from the Sultan Alaaddin of Aceh, who had asked for support against the expansion of the Portuguese in 1565. Aceh became a protectorate of the Ottoman Empire.

Portugal respected the long-standing alliance between the Ottoman Empire and Aceh, which only ended when the Netherlands took control of Aceh in 1904.
