Kuru Fasulye

Kuru Fasulye is a stew of white beans . There are numerous ways of preparing the Turkish national dish, and depending on the region, it is refined with meat, paprika, potatoes, parsley or other ingredients. The bean stew is usually served with rice ( pilaf ). A comparable dish is the Greek Fasolada .

White beans previously soaked in water are boiled until soft and boiled again with fried onions and tomato paste. It is seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin and hot paprika paste or paprika powder ( Pul Biber ).

Etymology and history

Kuru Fasulye literally translated from Turkish into German means "dry beans". This protein-rich bean dish provides energy in winter. The health-promoting, but also flatulence -producing effect of the Court is proverbial in Turkey. The dish is also sold on the street from small trolleys. It is often referred to as the Turkish national dish.
