Brief application

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The short application consists of the cover letter and a (tabular) résumé including an application photo . In contrast to a detailed application , the short application does not contain any further certificates or similar documents. More than three pages are usually not used for this. An application folder is also usually not required for this. Short applications are often sent via email. Individual companies are already beginning to provide special standardized questionnaires for short applications.

The short application is in no way a substitute for the detailed application. The brief application can, however, also be used as an unsolicited application and thus serve as the first contact with a company and to find out whether there is generally any need for workers and to arouse the curiosity of the personnel officer. It gives the employer a first impression of the applicant's qualification profile. If the company is interested, a complete application is usually requested or a personal interview takes place, for which the complete documents are submitted at the latest. Although a short application often does not address the requirements of a specific position, it is expected that at least a reference is made between the applicant profile and the profile of the company.

Short applications are also often used at job or training fairs if you want to "leave something behind" after an initial interview. In some industries there is a trend to design the short application as a separate format, i. H. create your own leaflet. The basic information is then presented in a clear and appealing form. Such formats, sometimes also referred to as creative application, are not always welcome and should be used cautiously.

Of course, with the short application you always indicate that you will be happy to submit the complete documents on request.
