Short-term bonds are bonds with a short total or residual term .

In contrast to long-term investments, short-term investments are less sensitive to exchange rates and are therefore preferred by investors in phases of uncertain or upward interest rates . Accordingly, cross-country skiers are more sensitive to exchange rates and are therefore not preferred by investors in phases with uncertain or upward interest rate developments. In phases with falling interest rates, however, they are preferred because of the possible price opportunities.
