The Kyaikpun Pagoda ( Burmese ကျိုက် ပွန် ဘုရား , pronounced: tɕaiʔpʊ̀ɴ pʰəjá, translated: four Buddhas ) is a Buddhist temple complex in Bago , Myanmar .

history

According to legend, the complex was built in the 7th century AD by King Migadippa of Bago. In the 15th century, King Dhammazedi had the Buddha figures renewed. At the beginning of the 21st century the figures were renovated again.

description

The Buddhas of the four world ages Kakusandha , Konagamana , Kassapa and Gautama sit leaning against a 30 m high square pillar and look in the four main directions: Kakusandha to the east, Konagamana to the south, Kassapa to the west and Gautama to the north.
