Before that, Badr ad-Din Lulu had Sherfedin's father Sheikh Hasan executed in 1246. Later, Badr ad-Din Lulu committed a massacre of the Yazidis in the Lalisch Valley. Sharaf ad-Din was also the governor of the ancient city of Harput . Allied with the Seljuk Prince Izz ad-Din against the Mongols , he was general of an armed force consisting of Yazidis, Kurds and Turkmens . In 1257 or 1258 he fell in a battle against the Mongols.

Adoration by the Yazidis

The Yazidis believe in an end time for life in this world. This end point is called “roja taliye” (the last day) or “axir zeman” (the end of time). Sherfedin is identified with the Mahdi , who is expected to return to the world at the end of time to eradicate the injustice in the world.

The mausoleum of Sharaf al-Din (also Şerfedîn ) is a pilgrimage of Yazidis in the district Sinjar in Iraq .
