The Löffler monument in Gotha ( Thuringia ) is a memorial stone, it is located on Puschkinallee in front of the Kreuzkirche, on a property belonging to the Löffler School.

history

The Löffler memorial stood in the inner garden of the Augustinian monastery until 1996. Then it was decided to place the classical foreign body in a more suitable place. It found a place in Scheliha's garden of the spoonbill school opened in 1892. The memorial was erected for the famous scholar and general superintendent for the Ducal Gotha, Dr. Josias Friedrich Christian Löffler, who was born on January 18, 1752 in Saalfeld and died on February 4, 1816 in Gamstädt in the exercise of his sacred profession in front of the altar . Two inverted torches, two tears, a picture of the rising sun and an oak wreath adorn the stone. On the fourth page then the words: "The blessing of his services to the spread of pure Christianity will last longer than this memorial that his numerous admirers put on him."
