A discharge bridge in shipping is a bridge for discharging or taking over liquid goods, for example in tankers .

description

An extinguishing bridge is usually equipped with various telescopic arms on which a flexible hose is mounted. The tanker must lie with the center of the ship at the height of the loading arms in order to reach the manifolds (hose connection station) arranged there . In order to discharge or take over the cargo, the arm with the pipe corresponding to the connection on board is lowered over the ship and connected there. You can then start pumping in or out of the ship. Fire cannons should be mounted on a modern extinguishing bridge . Often there is also a land-side gangway at the extinguishing bridge to enable access to the ship.
