Lion Pharmacy (Calvörde)

The Löwen pharmacy in Calvörde is one of the oldest pharmacies in the Börde district, it was founded in 1669. It is located in the listed building Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 22 not far from the historic market square .

history

On July 17, 1699, the materials dealer Elias Kreck received permission from the Duke of Braunschweig to set up a pharmacy in Calvörde. The pharmacy became state property in 1750, but was sold again to the pharmacist Friedrich Böhl in 1771 for 1200 thalers. The pharmacy received the privilege in 1773. In 1781 the pharmacist Friedrich Riesell owned the pharmacy. Until 1855 the owners changed frequently:

  • Friedrich Wilhelm Theodor Alexander Schultz (1834–1843)

In 1855 Friedrich Wilhelm Bodenstab bought the pharmacy. He had the house rebuilt in its current form in 1856. In 1885 his son Emil Bodenstab inherited the pharmacy. Then the pharmacist Herrmann Weidlich bought the pharmacy (1895). It was in his possession until 1903. On October 1, 1903, it was sold to Hans Lewin. In 1912 Ernst-Leberecht Klug bought the pharmacy in Calvörde and bequeathed it to his son Hans-Leberecht Klug in 1941, who owned the pharmacy until 1958. In that year he left the GDR and went to Marburg. In 1959 the pharmacy was nationalized and headed by Ingobert Wendt. In 1985 the pharmacist Stöhr took over the management.

In 1993, the pharmacist Klaus Wolff bought the pharmacy and called the pharmacy, which had not been named until then, "Löwen-Apotheke". Under the management of Klaus Wolff, the pharmacy was extensively redesigned and modernized.
