Emil Bodenstab (born July 20, 1856 in Calvörde ; † August 23, 1924 in Braunschweig ) was a pharmacist and local researcher .

Emil Bodenstab was born in Calvörde as the son of the pharmacy owner Friedrich Wilhelm Bodenstab. He attended the local elementary school, then the high schools in Clausthal and Helmstedt .

After attaining maturity, he turned to the pharmacist profession. In 1875 he started his apprenticeship with his father and completed it with his uncle in Hildesheim . In 1885 he married the daughter of the Lord Mayor of Göppingen and returned to Calvörde, where his father gave him the Löwen pharmacy .

Bodenstab was a man thirsty for knowledge. On countless hikes he explored the flora of his homeland in the Ohretal , so that he soon became a connoisseur. He devoted himself to the natural sciences and local research. In 1913 he moved his residence to Braunschweig, where he continued to conduct scientific research and worked as a librarian in the Natural Science Association and as a driver in the Harz Club in Braunschweig. The collections he set up in Magdeburg and Braunschweig were largely destroyed in World War II . He died in Braunschweig on August 23, 1924.
