LA synthesis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Linear Arithmetic synthesis (short-LA-synthesis) was obtained from Roland marked that it first in 1987 in the synthesizer -D50 Roland used. It is a combination of sampling and classic sound synthesis

Samplers , which store the entire sound of an instrument, require a lot of memory and were therefore very expensive in the 1980s. The most important part of the sound of most instruments is defined by the settling phase. Due to this fact, Roland developed the LA synthesis, in which a short sample is used for the start phase and the subsequent, usually quite constant sound is generated by simple subtractive synthesis . In this way, very realistic sounds could be generated for the conditions at the time, with very little memory required.
