The United School District of Los Angeles ( Los Angeles Unified School District , LAUSD) is a school district in the state of California .
Scope of the school district
It is the second largest school district in the United States . The school district includes the area of the City of Los Angeles and an additional 31 smaller parishes and towns in Los Angeles County . LAUSD looks after over 640,000 pupils from kindergarten to 12th grade ( high school ). The United School District is responsible for more than 900 schools and 190 public charter schools .
