Alert Condition

Alert Condition ( Engl. , Alarm status'), also with LERTCON abbreviated, called one of the seven different emergency levels of the US armed forces that can be called during a national emergency. The seven LERTCONs are divided into five Defense Conditions ( DEFCONs ) and two Emergency Conditions ( EMERGCONs ). The highest alert level ever declared was DEFCON 2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 .
