LINE , a recursive acronym for "Line Is Not an Emulator," is a computer program developed by Michael Vines for Microsoft Windows . With LINE it is possible to run programs written for the Linux operating system under Microsoft Windows without recompilation. The other way around, Wine can run Windows programs on Linux.

history

The development of LINE began in the year 2000. On October 19th, 2000 the first version 0.1 came out. Versions 0.2 to 0.4 followed at quick intervals. Version 0.5 was released on May 29, 2001. This was the last version of LINE so far and it seems like LINE is no longer being developed.
