LOC resource record

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With a LOC resource record , a precise position is assigned to a name . A geometrical location is determined exactly using length, width and height information. In order to enable spatially extended location definitions, a virtual sphere can be defined by specifying a radius around this point.

As with GPS, the WGS84 is used as the coordinate system .

LOC-RRs can be used, for example, to geographically track the path of an IP packet . The specification is documented in RFC 1876 .
