The Labbese are a carnival band from Bergisch Gladbach .
Band history
In 1975 Werner Kraus, Ferdi Schönenborn and Michael Niesen decided to found a carnival band while on vacation in Greece . A few months later, the Labbese appeared with their first song Ovends noh sibbe in the foolish hit parade of WDR television. In 1977 Günter Rodenbach joined and accompanied the troupe until 1983 with his accordion. For professional reasons, Rodenbach had to leave Labbese in 1983, and Norbert Wielpütz took his place. In 1978 Bernd Kierdorf got on board and has accompanied the band on drums ever since.
Gerd Rück , who as a "globetrotter" was one of the greats of the Cologne Carnival at the time, discovered the Labbese in 1985 at an event and helped them to appear at the KAJUJA Cologne introductory evening . After Schönenborn had to leave the band for professional reasons, Thomas Braß joined. In 2000 and 2001, Frank Wielpütz and Frank Müller, succeeding Werner Kraus, joined the rennet brooms. In 2017 the band formed anew; of the founding members only Kierdorf and Niesen are in the group.
New additions are Detlev Scholz (vocals), Andreas Pater (bass), Sebastian Kierdorf (electric guitar) and Klaus Blömeke (accordion, keyboard)
