Label switch router

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A label switch router (LSR) is a router inside an MPLS network. He is responsible for exchanging the MPLS labels that are used to forward the IP packets.

When an LSR receives a packet, it uses the MPLS label from the packet header to forward the packet on the Label Switched Path (LSP) and exchanges the label for the one that is used for the next section on the LSP.
