The term lachanophobia ( ancient Greek λάχανον (lákhanon = vegetables) and ancient Greek φοβία (phobía = fear)) is a phobic disorder with a fear of vegetables .

This phobia can also appear in different variations, for example in connection with a fear of fruit . This phobia occurs very rarely and is usually expressed in childhood. People with a lachanophobia experience strong disgust , fear and panic when they see or come into contact with vegetables. In some cases, those affected also avoid foods in which vegetables are processed, or places where they could come into contact with vegetables. Even the thought of touching these foods or imagining them can be a great challenge for many. Symptoms of the so-called phobia can include palpitations , difficulty breathing or an increased body temperature when touching vegetables.
