Lacrosse wasintroducedin Australia in 1876. Lambton L. Mount, a Canadian gold digger, imported 40 lacrosse clubs to promote the game in Melbourne . On April 22, 1876, about 20 players played the first lacrosse game in Albert Park there. In 1879, the Melbourne, Fitzroy, South Melbourne and Carlton lacrosse clubs formed the Victorian Lacrosse Association .

The first lacrosse game in South Australia took place in the Adelaide Parklands in 1885 . After the successful establishment of the lacrosse clubs of North Adelaide, Noarlunga and Knightsbridge, the South Australian Lacrosse Association was finally founded in 1888 . The first game took place in Western Australia in 1895.

A national association, the Australian Lacrosse Council (now Lacrosse Australia ), was formed in 1931.

  • Men - Division 1, Division 2, under 17, under 15, under 13.
  • Women - A Grade, A Reserve Grade, C Grade, D Grade
