Cargo manifest
A cargo manifest , also known as a ship's manifest or manifest for short , is a list of the cargo on board, which is kept for customs clearance in maritime traffic , among other things . It also serves as an identification document for the loaded goods in the event of an inspection of a cargo ship by a warship.
The manifest contains, among other things, a list of the goods loaded (quantity and packaging) as well as information on loading (place of loading, date of loading and port or place of unloading).
Ship manifest for cruises
In the case of cruises , the list, known by many shipping companies as a ship's manifest, is used to record passenger data (address data, contact information, passport data, etc.) for embarkation and entry formalities in the ports . The recorded data is carried on board and passed on to the authorities there upon entry into the ports.
