Lagardère Travel Retail, formerly Lagardère Services (LS) and formerly Hachette Distribution Services , is one of the world's largest distributors in the so-called travel retail sector, specializing primarily in the distribution of print media (press, books) and travel supplies in the public sector Transport facilities such as train stations, airports or subway stations. The group of companies is a division of the French Groupe Lagardère .

history

1826 bought Louis Hachette with Brédif in Paris his first bookstore. In 1852 he brought out the first entertainment magazine with Le Journal pour Tous . He opened the first train station bookshop in Paris in 1852, Gare de Lyon. That was the cornerstone of Lagardère. In 1913/15 further press and book stores followed in Belgium and Spain. The food service market has been focused since 1982 with the first bakery and coffee shops. In 1999, the company entered the German market under the name HDS Retail Deutschland GmbH . RELAY has been the world's largest travel retail brand since 2000. In 2001 the first RELAY shop was opened in Germany. In 2011 Lagardère Services split into the areas of Distribution and Travel Retail. In 2012 the name was changed from HDS Retail Deutschland GmbH to LS travel retail Deutschland GmbH. In the same year the LS travel foodservice Deutschland GmbH was founded and bundled under the activities in the food service. In early 2008, Lagardère Services sold 80% of its shares in Virgin Megastore to Butler Capital Partners. In 2013 LS travel retail Deutschland GmbH became the master franchisee of Coffee Fellows at travel locations. In 2014, Lagardère Services acquired Airest SpA. With this takeover, LS travel foodservice Deutschland GmbH owned 35 locations in Austria and Slovenia. In 2015 the takeover of The Paradies Shops , one of the leading travel retailers at airports in North America, followed and Lagardère Services became Lagardère Travel Retail.

With over 3,600 locations in around 30 countries on all continents, Lagardère Travel Retail is one of the world's largest distributors in the travel retail sector. The company is also represented at over 100 train stations and 60 airports. In addition to the largest brand RELAY, the portfolio also includes discover, tech2go, Virgin and hub CONVENIENCE. In the travel supplies sector, Lagardère Travel Retail has several own product brands, such as Pure & Rare, Sunny Days, Beauty Unlimited, Men's Lounge, French Days, Groumand, Virgin, La Cave à Cigares.
