Lagoa Branca ( Portuguese for "white lake"), also Caldeira Branca , is a crater lake in the west of the Portuguese Azores island of Flores , which belongs to the Santa Cruz das Flores district. The lake is located in the Reserva Natural do Morro Alto e Pico da Sé nature reserve . It is about 5 hectares and 2 m deep. The name of the lake goes back to its shallow depth: on the one hand, the lake floor appears lighter because of the algae floating in the lake, on the other hand, the lake dries out comparatively easily.
