The Laguna Aramuaca is a remote, one kilometer wide, water-filled maar in a low-lying area about 10 kilometers southeast of the city of San Miguel in El Salvador . The maar has not yet been geologically examined in detail. The crater ring of Laguna Aramuaca rises only 50 to 100 meters above the surrounding land. There are some spectacular pyroclastic surge deposits in quarries near the crater rim .
