The Laguna de Aculeo is a completely dried up lake near the city of Paine in Chile since 2018 .
The lake, located about two hours' drive from the Chilean capital Santiago de Chile , was a popular destination for water sports until it dried out. It had an area of about 12 km 2 at a depth of 6 m. From 2014 the lake lost its original dimensions until it finally dried out completely in spring 2018.
